IRIS CAPRICORN’s debut album: DECADES

(English version) Iris Capricorn started her career in 2000 by joining the band Dark Sanctuary (dark atmospheric, neo-classical) as the singer. Years rich in songwriting and recording studio experiences that are coming back to life with the return in 2021 of this cult band to the forefront of the gothic scene.

After a few years devoted to photography and an electropop immersion with her then Parisian duo, The Wishing Machine, it is now in Strasbourg that Iris has decided to go solo and return to her atmospheric and dark roots which fully define her.  The Capricorn universe, introspective and phantasmagorical, unfolds in this first album, DECADES, recorded and mixed in Strasbourg and at Milos Asian's Kitchen Studios in Bordeaux, mastered by Peter Deimel at Black Box Studio in Angers.

Iris' claws bring strange comfort and this ambivalence in emotions draws a rich landscape filled with ancestral, timeless sounds, punctuated with electronic additions. It is resolutely organic and the power of Iris' voice tells of raw wounds, endless pilgrimages… an eternal zoetrope in a setting that calls for contemplation and resilience.

(French version) Iris Capricorn a démarré sa carrière en l’an 2000 en intégrant le groupe Dark Sanctuary (dark atmosphérique, néoclassique) en tant que chanteuse. Des années riches d’expériences de compositions et de studios d’enregistrement qui reprennent vie suite au retour en 2021 de ce groupe culte sur le devant de la scène gothique.

Après quelques années consacrées à la photographie et une immersion électropop avec son duo parisien d’alors, The Wishing Machine, c’est désormais à Strasbourg qu’Iris a décidé de se lancer en solo et de revenir à ses racines atmosphériques et dark qui la définissent pleinement.  L’univers Capricorn, introspectif et fantasmagorique, se déploie dans ce premier album, DECADES, enregistré et mixé à Strasbourg et au Kitchen Studios de Milos Asian à Bordeaux, masterisé par Peter Deimel au Black Box Studio à Angers.

Les griffes d’Iris apportent étrangement du réconfort et cette ambivalence dans les émotions dessine un paysage riche empli de sonorités ancestrales, intemporelles, ponctuées d’ajouts électroniques. C’est résolument organique et la puissance de la voix d’Iris raconte des blessures à vif, des pèlerinages sans fin… un zootrope éternel dans un décor appelant à la contemplation et la résilience.
